This, sire, is utter contemptible nonsense. First you attempted to ascribe a position to a certain group and then proceeded to destroy it. I don’t deal in logical fallacies but surely there must one for that.
And if individuals are the heart of your universe then shouldn’t they be at the center of your criticism too?
Since subtlety is not your strongest attribute, let me say this clearly: Most people–nationalist or otherwise–have little interest in who Shilpa Shetty kisses or sleeps with. (Unless it is for voyeuristic pleasure like your obsession with Savita Bhabhi.) I wholeheartedly endorse your taking on individuals who attempt to control Ms Shetty’s personal choices. But, just that.
As for Ms Shetty’s actual comment: That was cheeky. And cute. And smart.

I agree comment was actually cheeky, cute and smart
But I guess Amit was just being sarcastic..or wrote with satire..(which is why he didn’t address it to Shilpa but to those who raise objections..)
Just my opinion…
Rk,
I didn’t object to his words …but only to the group he addresses them. Needless to say, I am with him when he criticizes the morons who have filed cases against Shetty.
I see offended people.
*Ah the irony*
Sire,
When I have taken offense to taking offense?
shtoopeed lambu frivolous brown-skinned woman and her desperate attention seeking gimmicks, leads one to a note laced with subtle sarcasm by a highly revered cowherd, sorry, cow-caretaker, sorry, cow-lover, which was dis-regarded by hedonist R who declared self as “non-pricey-snobbish-touchy-etc”…
Get out n breathe in a few hits of zephyr!
n u guys found her comment cheeky, cute n smart…? there’s a considerable dip in men’s tastes! no wonder, women make such fools out of men…
@ that nutcase promised one kiss on the cheek ….n the guy picked up three kisses …?
Err, you ridicule the very notion of people taking offense, which is why it is ironic (to say the least) when you are pissed off.
Sire,
a) I have been pissed off plenty of times before on this blog. On a lot of issues. So it is nothing new.
b) Ridiculing–I would put it as disagreeing–with someone taking offense is entirely different from being offended which I would define as questioning the right to take offense. i think i have said it plenty of times that people have the absolute right to take offense as long as they don’t expect other people to change because of that or force them to change.
So once again, what is the point?
You think wrong, anyway there is no point in taking offense if you don’t “expect” at some level for person to make amends, otherwise it is absurd.
Sire,
Expectations and coercion is different, no?
Would anyone much care about Danish cartoons if the offended did not threaten to kill the cartoonists. Or in multiple other such cases.
Whoa whoa for some reason you are going all over the place.
I will put it simply.
1. You have ridiculed people for just being offended, even when there was no violence or coercion involved.
2 Now you are offended.
3. Now you should ridicule yourself.
1. Sire, you are quite right. Because I thought the object of their taking offense was ridiculous. I have taken offense/ranted many times before; it shows i have no objection to taking offense.
2. I don’t think it is ridiculous in this case for me to take offense. Perhaps, you feel so.
3. Then ridicule my taking offense. Don’t ask me to do your job!!!
@ Confused – Gaurav is just angry because you are criticizing Amit. You are taking over his territory of being indignant about H.E’s columns
Yes, dictator. Please crush your minion.
There is something really wrong with the desi blogosphere when someone like Amit Verma wins Indiblog awards…
Ok there is something wrong here because I remember clearly that you never mentioned that you were ridiculing your target because you thought they were being offended on ridiculous ground, rather as far as I remember you ridiculed the very notion of some people (Hindus/Indians/Religious people ) getting offended. Which must mean you hold yourself to different standard than your targets.
@Shadows/Rippu
“something really wrong with the desi blogosphere …”
Dont we know the behavioral nuances “Nepotism”, “Excessive psycophancy”, “Groupism”…..most Indians (despite the educational achievements, social affluence) still drag in a sense of comfort by being in clsely held, tugged GROUPS
Jyothsna,
Well, I get the drift…
