Surely, if there is God in this world, He would shut this woman up. Correction: If there was God in this world, He would have shut this woman up long time back.
Barkha Dutt may be a very bad op-ed writer but at least occasionally she makes sense. Sagarika Ghose is just plain silly.

Mr. Tharoor called.. he wants to talk to her about Saris.
LOL!!!!!! @ Vivek
This’s what I term Pseudo-intellectual masturbation…..
after a great sexual escapade (finally, man!), when the delicately carved eastern -pastel brown colored interiors (read Ms Ghuh..huh) subtly move away from the hard central plateau reeking of western sophistication (read Ms Ghuh..huh’s man), the strangling folds of
eastern sari unfolds delectable contours, which may prove irresistible to the western sensibilities, and chose the path of one more deep intriguing exploration in the wild surroundings…..we wonder , can we delight over those traces of attenuated elegance or fragmentation of excitement……
SHE IS STUCK.SHE IS STATIC. n She pinched, am sure, that bloody title of her utterly butterly NONSENSE from this book….
RECYLE THIS WOMAN
@ ….The Indian housewife has never looked trendier, her house has never been more crammed with as many new objet d’arts….very NICHE!
this’s what happens when a Page – 3 celebrity / media person, her delicate hands are adorned with long-necked wine glass, attempts to write about a society that is in transition…
Most Homemakers from the middle class families, whch form the belly of the country, still struggle with the rigmarolic mundane existence…everyday starts with certain defined nags – inadequate running water, casual & unplanned power cuts, egoistic husband and wild little creatures…regular household chores happy relish her stamina n energy, those rejuvenating breaks she takes during the siesta time are meant for her to plan out efficient management of family budget, n then in the evening her hubby dahln brings backs his frustation over traffic jams, pollution, office politics etc and littl creatures cry about homework load…her maid ditched her again!
to retain her state of serenity, she goes to shlokas sessions in the temples or sat-sanghs….
has this woman met the real Indian women? no….kick her out …she cant afford to be in Mass Media..
@ Indian sensibilities n Western influence
..Globalization is leading to a resurgence of interest in local traditions. In “The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order,” for example, Harvard Professor Samuel P. Huntington argued that modernization promotes confidence in the local social order, but at the same time faith in traditional practices (Simon & Schuster, 1997).
There;’s bound to be renewed interest in local traditions in transitional societies. More and more people are different ethnic products – come down to Mumbai, most women in the streets wear a fusion look (Levis or Diesel jeans, knee-lenght Cotton)…it’s soothing in an ever increasing superficial world
it could be a subtle cultural backlash against meaningless globalisation
Rohit,
Why the hell do you read all these pieces of crap? No wonder, you call yourself confused!
I have stopped reading Sagarika Sardesai (
), Rajdeep Ghose (
)) ), Burkha Dutt, etc. Probably, we can read them for entertainment, but please do not take these guys seriously!
And yes, you can ask for their “sudden removal” from the Indian media
Vivek,
heh.
Jyo,
Interesting. I didn’t know she had lifted the title from a book though I suspected she had lifted it from where.
Mayuresh,
I don’t take them seriously. But what to do, someone has to get dirty and tackle their nonsense.
R
you should continue this campaign :
“UN-DIRTY MEDIOCRE MEDIA”…..fish them out and give them a DEEP-CLEANSING DRAG OUT. Pull the poor junta out, who are being fed by the plankton of mediocrity. …
Some filler piece I guess, she couldnt think of anything serious yet wanted to come across as profound.
esp liked:
” sari clad but calm in the face of divorce ”
I felt the disconnect too, that Jyo emphasized at comment #4. Jyo’s housewife is so much more real.
BTW a worry: Jyo’s comments are increasingly becoming comprehensible. Is this some problem with me?
rgds,
Jai
Jai,
Jyo is growing on us…
Jai
