India Wins!

What a final! And when all seemed lost, India managed to hold their nerves. Here is the final over. Such a delicious watch since India won! :)

But I tell you man, I am not entirely convinced T20 is real cricket but its so freaking hard on the nerves. You miss one over and the whole match might have changed completely.  And with India and Pakistan playing, its 4 matches in one!
Thank heavens now we can go back to watching ”boring” one dayers. :)

Congratulations. A classic piece, edgy thriller, never kept one peaceful, with generous interludes of anxiety blended with excitement, and equally nerve-shredding moments. Though, this “2-minutes Maggie Noodles” like euphoria may prove dear, at times, to fragile hearts (especially when you are watching with parents, mom was criticising the Indian bolwer who lend a free-load of 6 runs one moment, and the next moment spreading floral net over the bowler who scalped the batsman), I loved the wholesome youthful entertainment of the game for the first time ever.
But I feel T20 can not match the classiness of 50 overs.forget moving closer to the langurous Iconic style of Test matches.

a few things I truly loved :the poise and composure of young Indian skipper and the positive vibes throughout in the young team (RP is charming,Sree is hot,Irfan cool cucumber,Yuvi is destructive….jogi..everyone) n it may sound banal, but he mean every word of what he said this “doesn’t matter whether you win or lose, you just go out and enjoy the game” (that attitude itself eases off one)

Magnificient game by Indian lads. n brilliant play by young guns from Pakistan too!

  2. bush made india win T20 world cup. India is caught in mass hysteria celebrating cup, so N deal is passed.

Proof that win diverts from important things. Notice congress using this moment to induct Rahul Gandhi as AICC general Sec

  3. sorry Vatsan
I tend to disagree with you. The political parties (am not naming which ones, all of us know) in India, these days, certainly are enthused by “success stories from youngsters from small towns, from youth in hinterlands” and are ingredienting this mood into their political philosophy….youngsters from small towns are realising their big dreams (Dhoni?Pathan brothers?Sree?Prashanth – the newly crowned Indian Idol?Amit Paul-the most talented runner up-Indian Idol? the tantalising youth Icon Sania?}……..
I am sure, like me, many would have bitten their tongues in a surge of surprise, when the top 2 contenders fr Indian Idol (the talent show) met the top leaders to seek their blessings…..

  4. The game was crappy because Joginder sharma got away with bowling such a defensive line. Not just him, Mohammed Hafeez and Afridi too. 20-20 games will probably encourage captains to do this more often and so this format will prove to be more flawed than the ODI format in the long run. I loved the way Shoaib malik thanked ‘all muslims’ and made a fool of himself. An icing on the cake for India.

  5. Subhash,

Probably Shoaib Malik was thanking the muslims in India who rioted because Pakistan lost.. See this post..

  6. Jyo,

I am glad you finally made peace with cricket. I thought u wont watch it anymore. But yes. loved the final. Totally pulsating!

    vatsan,

heh. Nice theory. I think you have been following the Indian cricket political scene too closely!

    Subash,

Malik really made an ass of himself. i just hope it wasn’t intentional and it was just his poor grasp of the English language.

  7. R Thank you
(I decided to thank you for responding to me.this ritual is kept in place from now)
there has never been a war between the country’s religion and a mortal, me.I was disenchanted with the the people who represented billion+ hearts worldwide while playing it, or while trying to play it.
Experiencing a youthful resurgence, a spirit of recklessness out there in the battle field is a delight for sedated veins n failing nerves.
I salute both the teams-India and Pakistan n respect each player in the teams. If you’ve ever doubted that passionate war can come out on the pitch, behind the wickets, out of the Willow, you need to hear “Closer n Hotter”.that’s the magic of both the countries.
