The Best Rediff Comment Ever

Rediff message board rocks. Truly.

Why Sachin shouldn’t retire.

Suppose a person is working in a bank. Now, he makes big profits for the bank in his heyday, he got awards and recognition. He continued his good work and got promoted. This cycle continued for many years, then he becomes the Senior Manger or General Manager.

Now, he is in his late forties, and new recruits have come into the bank who are performing fantastically well.

In this scenario, should this person be fired? Or he would be rewarded for his meritorious service and would be respected more and shown as an example to the aspiring youngsters?

Well, I am a working young professional and in my industry such persons are respected and admired.[link]

Now we can all have a discussion on whether Sachin should or shouldn’t retire but I can’t think of a more stupid justification.

Meanwhile at Lord’s, it looks like the rain Gods might just save India. English weather rocks!

Well, not quite as much as Rediff does.

Update: Rain has denied England a much deserved victory. But could someone please drill some sense into Zaheer Khan and R.P. Singh. What were these two gentlemen thinking? Everyone knew that the rain was around the corner and India just needed to hang around for few more minutes. Yet, these players got out while trying to play expansive shots. One acknowledges that they are tail-enders and no one expects them to score too many runs. It would have been perfectly understandable if they had been beaten by a good ball and lost their wicket. But trying the hit the ball for a boundary in that kind of situation is highly irresponsible. Even worse, they had both negotiated the bowling pretty well and both of them got out on the last ball of the over. I hope Dravid had a quite word with them especially with Singh who is still quite young. Actually, here you need a coach who can exercise some authority. But then B.C.C.I is too busy making money and fighting turf wars to give a damn.

  1. Confused, I totally agree you that Khan & Singh played irresponsibly and shouldn’t have got out the way they did. My point was that your post update took them to task but said nothing about the middle order. That, to me, seemed a bit unfair. :)

We could have won this match if the top & middle order had made more runs.

BAL, agreed. I was surprised when Sehwag was dropped from the Test team but retained in the ODI team, when probably it should have been the other way round. Indian team anyways takes it’s time getting into high gear, and let’s hope that they perform better in the next test.
