Dear D.M.K, P.M.K..

…and other assorted votaries of Tamil nationalism. Where are thou? The Tamil race needs you. Now!

The North Indians (which means anyone north of Bangalore Chennai) are at it again! A true mannin manidhan is being excluded from the Indian Cricket team due to racism. This cannot be tolerated.

I say gherao the Parliament, threaten to bring down the government, amend the constitution, introduce a bill, fire Sharad Pawar, fire Greg Chappel, declare Rahul Dravid a drohi, present a poonadai to Sonia Gandhi, do whatever it takes…

But please, please get Dinesh Kaarthik into the Indian cricket team. And while you are at it, can you please send Sehwag to Afganistan or some other such place?

(Thanks to Vatsan for the Tamil bits)

  1. can we throw in an agarkar free?

  2. hush..
have I told you that I am planning take Sehwag on my MISSION TO ANTARCTICA. There is an invitation from the Gentlemen of A (black tuxedo penguins) … this way Sehwag can cool his heels

who called Rahul Dravid a drohi? face me at the north face of Bangalore, if you have sturdier heart beats!

*btw, Jayalalithaa observed a day’s fast on the troubled waters.a quicker way to lose weight!

  3. how pathetic are we…we put them on our heads…treat them like royalty buy products they endorse… from chaddi to gaddi so to speak.
And when they lose we get angry… still watch the next match… if they win – gods again. phew!

if sehwag manages a rocking 100 in the next match…wonder how many of us would hate him as we now do.

  4. so how does that foot taste? :) Cinamon pulled a Nostradamus.

  5. 100+ individual score against Bermudians is not a great achievement…..a delivery met the expectations..his true mettle to be tested against some other tribe…that brutal, ruthless punishment is just a GATORADE to sagging spirits…

  6. Neha,

    Yes. please.

    Jyo,

Make sure he never comes back!

    Cinamon,

Against Bermuda? What’s the big deal!

    Patrix,

It changes nothing. In fact , this is what I feared. Now, Sehwag will get a chance in the crucial match against SL where he will fail! Now, if he scores a century against them, then I would agree with the foot in the mouth thing.

    Jyo,

    Bingo!

  7. Agreed. Robin Uthappa must be ruing his failure to cash in the run fest. We still gotta get Bermuda out inside of 170 to beat SL’s margin of victory and of course, win against SL.

  8. I agree that the SL match will test the mettel and all…. but just read the papers..we as country are again set to place them on our heads.

  9. >> if sehwag manages a rocking 100 in the next match…wonder how many of us would hate him as we now do.

    Cinamon,

I still do. He is not consistent enough. He was riding his luck in the Bermuda game.

  10. Shadows, I am neither commenting on his skill nor his acceptance by those who understand the game. am talking about the emotion of the masses. A commoner like me who understands very little of the nitty-gritty of the game…Sehwag played well and is a hero.

I do not understand if he was on the edge or whatever ….and most of us Janta neither understand nor care… for us 114 was awesome fun to watch.

Till day before everybody who could spell cricket in media was wantng to have him for breakfast and now the tide has changed…he suddenly looks promising. People condemning dravid for supporting sehwag…now look at him and sehwag as ram and laxman or bharat (take ur pick).

Cricket Aficionados laud heroes who believe in “sustenance of performance” {consistency}..They dnot invest their energies on a single-match ticklish wonder who would vanish into a thin layer of powdery rumble.
your definition of “hero” appears to be a bit too flaccid n fleeting a phenomenon…am sure you must be having a battalion of fighting soldiers….not heroes.!

  12. Cinamon,

Yeah, you are right. One century, and no selector or coach dare kick him out.

What is more important is how he plays, as compared to the runs he scores. If “how” is good, then scores and the rest of the things work out automatically.

    Jyothsna,

Well, Sehwag – a gypsy child at daybreak, a king for a day..
