Blame The Rain

So India has been humiliated at Durban. Now knives will be out, people will label this team spineless, papertigers and FSM knows what else.

I have a simpler solution:blame the rain. Last time it rained and India was saved, it was supposed to rain for this match too but somehow India was cheated and the rain Gods never obliged. What was India supposed to do under such circumstances?

The other interesting thing is the scorecard. India were 82-4 at one time before being bowled out for 91. That’s six wickets for nine runs! While hardly earth-shattering by Indian standards, it is still a noteworthy performance.

Critics will also point out that India cannot handle faster pitches and demand greentops at home. While it is reasonable enough, its never going to happen. For it would require that every pitch (at least at the international avenues) be relaid. Irrespective of defeat, the policy will have to be continued. India will lose at least initially before the batsmen become more adept at playing on faster pitches.

This kind of continous failure is simply unacceptable to the mandarins of Indian cricket and quite frankly to the cricketers themselves. There is too much money riding on them which demands at least occasional success to keep the advertisers interested.

So, please stop this nonsense of India improving any time soon and just wait before we get back home. Then we will see them all-on the dustbowls.

  1. In fact, Good… there is just too much of interest in cricket at the cost of other sports.. they should lose a couple of times. I was so disinterested right from the beginning, that I did not even check the score on my phone or the web. The best thing was I watched the later half of late night espn after match analysis with harsha bhogle, gavaskar and shastri (skipped the match for some movie on another channel). shastri and gavaskar literally chopped apart the babus at BCCI, accusing them of being greedy for the money while ignoring the infrastructure at the junior and first class level.

    Confused,
you pretty much say the same thing. keep the advertizers interested, win a few games. But I dont see that happening soon, since yuvraj is out of the series(Sehwag doesnt matter, in one out of five matches, he reaches double digits)

    Thanks Rahul Dravid.

  2. I am NOT saying the same thing. I am saying that this is what is going to happen.

  3. So.. what did I write.. ???
Gavaskar and Shastri said the same thing.. that this is going to happen if India does not improve its performance.. Also , the need to put some of that great amount of money bcci makes, into faster pitches and better grounds.

Guess Chappell has been assigned to break Indias chances in this world cup, by the aussies… play around with the team so much that it lies in shambles at the start of the Worldcup.
