Today, Jai Arjun Singh was quoted on India Uncut:
Wasn’t there a theory that many urban Indians (especially Delhi-based ones) born in 1976/1977 are warped and dysfunctional for life because their parents were having “nervous sex” when they were conceived – it being the time of the Emergency. I seek a lot of solace in this theory, otherwise I would have myself to blame for all that’s wrong.
As a Delhi based 1977 born, I wasn’tgoing to take this insult lying down, was I? So I immediately shot off a mail to Amit and then promptly went back to sleep.
(I have a bad habit of writing crappy mails first thing in the morning, so much so that Amit, a frequent victim, once asked: ”Do you blog in the morning too?” No, Amit, I am fully capable of writing crap 24/7, thank you very much)
Anyway, this is what I wrote-
What is this crap about people born in 1976-77? Especially about those born in 77, see how our arrival ended emergency, for fugs sake, give us some credit, will ya?
Now Amit has dismissed my protest, but dear reader, please hear me out first-not that you have a choice.
Lets deal with this nervous sex nonsense. I say, that generation should be an inspiration for the us.
Emergency had been imposed, press freedom was curtailed, arbitrary arrests were being made and the very idea of India as a democratic nation was under threat. Despite all this, they still found time for a roll in the hay!
I say, we should all stand up and give them a vigourous round of applause!

Oh MAGNIFUCKNFIQUE boy!
First let me laud that hissing, brewing goulish cauldron in you!
Get in the game, there seems to be a heightened sense of irresistibility quotient around you. what an insight, ludicrous though! – “internal disturbances in the state” inhibited “nocturnal energies”, while on the contrary relatively more a possibility of contemptuous seduction prevailed behind the windows.
yea, woman would have more vividly projected a passive, unwilling image to the male energy…but willingly would have surrendered to!
(Un)Cut back to this generation…is it the FLIGHT? OR FRIGHT? watch out, this is the age of ED – Erectile Dysfunction
-Feeling nervous about sex, perhaps because of a bad experience/previous episode of impotence
-Feeling stressed, including stress from work or family situations *this is the killer as Rohit mentioned
-Feeling depressed
-Feeling so self-conscious
last but not the least, well-aware, empowered and articulate WOMAN….who does not puerile, virginish aura in most cases
Emergency Dysfucntion? Erectile Dysfunction..decide!

Hmm…
was there really a theory like that? man, how daft!
i think being born is enough to make you warped and dysfunctional for life, the rest is just a backdrop to this act.
hmm 77, that makes you 29 thn, go easy on the nerves there …
Rohit,
At the Sea-side
….When I was down beside the sea
A wooden spade they gave to me
To dig the sandy shore.
My holes were empty like a cup,
In every hole the sea came up,
Till it could come no more….

You are Special. Take care!
Jyo,
Yeah. Well….
Amit,
Ahem.
Neha,
Yeah, got creaky bones. Getting too old for my own liking!
Must admit that I’m from the nervous seventies also. But my dad was a long-time admirer of Indira Gandhi so I don’t think it was nervousness to blame for my dysfunctional personality.
It is so lonely to be the single sensible human among so many nervous wrecks
gosh you’re old
LOL!! It makes every other person in the world outcome of nervous sex.
Pat,
heh. I thought you have a pretty placid personality.
Gaurav,
Accha! Glad you are.
tgfi,
Er. Okay. No comments. Othewise you and your supporters will throw another fit!
Mariam,
heh. I know.
Digressing from Moms and Dads…..
Old Vs Young Vs Youthful…
in India, one of the BRIC economies, the state of mind reflects “40s ARE NEW 30s”..so what happens to the late 20s and early, mid and late 30s… ?
….Age is no longer a permissible field to be dictated by two-digit numeric. It seems to have acquired the higher ground ’state of mind’
how youthful you are is the factor as noticed by the external world. How well you’d sustained the energy levels, how beautifully you have been managing that streak of energy n enthusiasm towards life are far more important factors than the numeric that taps at your door every year
2.30’s never were bad. 40’s gathering more resplendent hues than ever before. look at Demi Moore who dated and married 26-year-old Ashton Kutcher, a glance at her efforts to vibe with his wavelength.
A long pause at Madonna, one of the most legendary brands kicking alive in the entertainment industry. She challenges herself, she EVOLVES with times.
there are many examples at our home front too…!
ICICI Retirement solutions clearly n loudly says ‘retirement from your job does not mean that you retired from life’
everyone seems to be challenging the age factor, the numeric!
3.Ageing gracefully. It’s all about being real and true about the irrefutable process called AGEING. Women and men are lot more comfortable with the ageing process, they are no longer are hesitant to hide their age and seem to believe in ageing gracefully. Be Real. Be Matured in your demeanor.
Dove talks to women who are real and happy about the mindset of ‘ageing gracefully’. Loreal highlights one’s attitude of ‘I deserve the best’, irrespective of one’s age……Jyo
